feat(init): report iOS and macOS starter setup to agents as JSON - #583
clerk init --starter --json was rejected, so an agent creating a new iOS or macOS app read plain-text errors, and the rules for doing it right (valid names, an existing folder, which team, how to resume after a failure) lived in the agent's prompt instead of the CLI. This makes the starter report those as JSON.
--starter --framework ios --json (or macos) is accepted. A web starter's generator writes to the terminal, so --json still isn't accepted there.
Agent mode. Like clerk migrate --json, a --json starter runs in agent mode unless --mode says otherwise (a preAction hook), so nothing prompts: signing in, choosing or relinking an application, and the starter's own questions all report a status instead.
input-required before writing. An answer only the user can give stops before anything is written with { "status": "input-required", "input": { "field", "flag", "question", "issue" } }, plus a suggestion (a free default name) or choices (the Apple teams that can sign the app): a missing or invalid --name (--json requires one rather than defaulting to MyClerkApp), a name whose folder exists, a Bundle ID Xcode can't suggest, or a team to choose. Plain-text runs keep the same messages and exit codes.
The new app in every status.starter always means the new app: once written, every JSON status carries starter: { projectName, platform, projectDir, continuation }. continuation is the cd <app> && clerk init --app <app_id> --json … that finishes it, with the real ID when --app was passed.
setup-interrupted. If setup stops after writing with an error that has no status of its own (a failed link, an Xcode failure), init prints the error, the new app, and its continuation, so the agent continues inside the app instead of rerunning --starter against a folder that now exists.
Inherited links. An agent's iOS or macOS starter with no application chosen stops before writing when the directory is covered by a link (its own, a parent's, or the repository's), instead of silently setting the new app up against an application that may belong to another project.
Accountless flags are rejected for Apple starters before the link checks, whose advice would contradict them.
Validation
bun run format:check, lint, typecheck, and bun run test (4,984 pass).
Live with the source CLI and real Xcode: missing and reserved names, an existing folder, a parent-linked folder, and a fresh folder (writes the app, then application-required with its continuation) all report as described.
`clerk init --starter --json` was rejected, so an agent creating a new
iOS or macOS app had to read plain-text errors, and its setup rules
(name, folder, team, how to resume) lived in prompts instead of the CLI.
- `--starter --framework ios --json` (or `macos`) is accepted; a web
starter's generator writes to the terminal, so it still isn't. Like
`clerk migrate --json`, a `--json` starter runs in agent mode unless
`--mode` says otherwise, so nothing prompts.
- An answer only the user can give (a missing or invalid name, an
existing folder, a Bundle ID Xcode can't suggest, a team to choose)
stops before anything is written with an `input-required` status
naming the flag, a question, and any suggestion or team choices.
- Once the app is written, every status names it and the continuation
command that finishes it; setup that stops with an error of no status
of its own reports `setup-interrupted`, so an agent continues inside
the new app instead of rerunning `--starter`.
- An agent's starter with no application chosen stops before writing
when the directory would inherit a parent's or repository's link.
- Accountless flags are rejected for Apple starters before the link
checks, whose advice they would contradict.

Walkthrough
The init command now supports JSON-mode iOS and macOS starter creation. It reports structured input requirements and inherited-link application choices before writing. JSON statuses include starter details and continuation commands after creation. Later setup failures can produce setup-interrupted with recovery instructions.
clerk/cli#576: The PR adds continuation commands to JSON statuses and uses a bare clerk command, which relates to the issue’s CLI naming objective.
Possibly related PRs
clerk/cli#577: Both PRs change behavior around authenticateAndLink in init; this PR reports starter setup interruptions there, while #577 adds a link outcome that init may need to handle.

…etected
After the starter writes the project, init detects it again. If that
failed or found no framework, the error left without a JSON status, so
an agent had no project location or continuation and could rerun
`--starter` against a folder that now exists.
The written project now travels with that failure: a `--json` native
starter reports `setup-interrupted` with the new app and its
continuation, and the original error is rethrown unchanged (web
starters and plain-text runs behave as before).

An agent's iOS or macOS starter in a linked folder was asked about the
link (--relink, or which --app to use) before the starter checked its
name, folder, Bundle ID, and team. Answering the link question, for
example by creating a new Clerk application, could still end with the
name or folder rejected, leaving that application unused.
The starter now runs the same link checks through a `beforeWrite` hook,
once every answer is settled and right before the project is written.
A link stop still prints its input-required status once and writes
nothing. Web starters keep checking before their generator runs.

A starter's question before writing reported under `starter`, the key
every status after writing uses for the new app's summary, so an agent
reading `starter.flag` on a just-written app's input-required got
undefined. The question now reports under `input`, beside `link` and
`identity`; `starter` always means the new app.
`--starter --json` forced agent mode whenever --mode was absent, which
overrode an explicit CLERK_MODE. It now leaves the mode alone when
either is set.
An invalid --team-id with --sign-in-with-apple offered Personal Teams,
which can't sign that app, and team questions sent `choices: []` when
there was nothing to offer. They now offer only paid teams in that
case and leave `choices` out when the list is empty.

…tale link
Without --app, an agent's iOS or macOS starter checked only the folder
it runs in for a link the new app would inherit. A link saved for a
folder of the new app's name, since removed, sits below that folder,
so the new app would have set itself up against it unasked. The
starter now checks the new app's folder too, before writing.

The check for a link left at the new app's folder resolved it like an
existing project, which asks Git about a folder that doesn't exist
yet. Git's per-path cache keeps that miss, so linking the app after
writing it couldn't find its repository and saved the link for the
one folder instead of the whole repository.
The check now reads the link saved for exactly that path, without Git.

The fix in 32937d6 resolves the Git cache issue. The new-folder check no longer calls Git on a path that doesn't exist yet, so the starter's link stays repository-wide.
