Add Sandbox and Domain names; deprecate Testing, Inbox and SendingDomain - #180
Mailtrap now calls Email Sandbox inboxes sandboxes and sending domains domains, and the API reference documents only the new names. The SDK still exposes client.testing.inboxes, testInboxId and client.sendingDomains. This adds the new names and keeps the old ones as deprecated aliases, so existing 6.x code keeps working and the change can ship as a minor release. The same rename is going into the other Mailtrap SDKs.
The new names call the same /inboxes and /sending_domains endpoints as before. Moving to the /sandboxes and /domains paths is left for a future major version, because responses on those paths use different field names (sandbox_id instead of inbox_id).
Changes
New names: client.sandbox (with sandboxes), client.domains, the sandboxId option, and the Sandbox and Domain* types
client.sandbox.sandboxes has getSandboxAttributes, updateSandbox and cleanSandbox. Its other methods keep their names.
client.sandbox.messages and client.sandbox.attachments take sandboxId where they took inboxId. Only the parameter names changed.
Fields that mirror the API, such as inbox_id, Project.inboxes and sending_domain_ids, keep their names.
Old names still work and emit a DeprecationWarning once per process
This covers testInboxId, client.testing, client.testing.inboxes with its getInboxAttributes/updateInbox/cleanInbox, and client.sendingDomains.
Each warning reads "<old> is deprecated and will be removed in a future major release; use <new> instead." and has the code MAILTRAP_DEPRECATED_NAME, so --no-deprecation silences it.
The old types (Inbox, SendingDomain and the related ones) are @deprecated aliases of the new ones.
Passing both sandboxId and testInboxId with different values throws a MailtrapError instead of picking one. The "sandbox ID missing" error now names sandboxId.
README and examples use only the new names, and a "Renamed APIs" table under "Compatibility with previous releases" maps old to new. examples/testing moved to examples/sandbox and examples/sending-domains to examples/domains.
examples/sandbox/template.ts called a client.testing.send that doesn't exist. It now uses client.send with sandbox: true.
examples/sandbox/attachments.ts passed getList its arguments in the wrong order.
How to test
You'll need an account API token, its account ID, and the ID of a sandbox in that account. Build this branch (yarn build) and run the calls from a script that requires ./dist.
Sandbox send, new option: new MailtrapClient({ token, sandbox: true, sandboxId }).send(...) lands in that sandbox, and nothing is printed to stderr.
Sandbox send, old option: the same with testInboxId instead of sandboxId lands in the sandbox. One [MAILTRAP_DEPRECATED_NAME] DeprecationWarning: testInboxId is deprecated… line goes to stderr, even after several sends.
Conflicting IDs: sandboxId: 1, testInboxId: 2 throws sandboxId and testInboxId are set to different values; set only sandboxId.
Missing ID: sandbox: true without either ID rejects send with sandboxId is missing, sandbox sending will not work.
List sandboxes: client.sandbox.sandboxes.getList() returns the account's sandboxes with no warning. client.testing.inboxes.getList() returns the same list and warns once each for client.testing and client.testing.inboxes.
Sandbox methods: getSandboxAttributes, updateSandbox and cleanSandbox work on a sandbox. Their old names, called through client.testing.inboxes, return the same results and warn once each.
Domains: client.domains.getList() returns the account's domains with no warning. client.sendingDomains.getList() returns the same and warns once.
Silenced: running the old-name calls with node --no-deprecation prints no warnings.
Regression: a production send (sandbox off, no IDs) and a bulk send still go out as before.
The product now calls Email Sandbox inboxes "sandboxes" and sending
domains "domains". Add client.sandbox (with sandboxes), client.domains
and the sandboxId option, plus Sandbox and Domain types.
Decisions:
- Keep client.testing, client.testing.inboxes and its *Inbox methods,
client.sendingDomains, testInboxId and the Inbox/SendingDomain types
as deprecated subclasses and aliases, so 6.x code keeps working
- Warn through process.emitWarning once per old name: getters build a
new instance on each access, and no-console lints src/
- Keep the /inboxes and /sending_domains paths and request roots; the
new names call the same endpoints
- Throw when sandboxId and testInboxId differ instead of picking one
- Rename the private sandbox flag to sandboxMode, which collided with
the new sandbox getter
- Fix examples/sandbox/template.ts (called a missing client.testing.send)
and the swapped attachments getList arguments

The client adds sandbox and domains APIs and accepts sandboxId while retaining deprecated names with warnings. Resource types, operations, tests, examples, and documentation use the new terminology. Existing endpoint paths remain in use.
Changes: Sandbox and domain API migration
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Sandbox and domain resource contracts and operations src/types/api/{sandboxes,domains,inboxes,sending-domains,projects}.ts, src/lib/api/..., src/lib/api/resources/...
Adds sandbox and domain types and resource clients. Legacy inbox and sending-domain types and clients extend, delegate to, or alias the new APIs. Resource methods use the existing endpoint paths.
Adds sandboxId, sandbox-ID validation, sandbox and domains getters, and first-use deprecation warnings. Legacy names remain supported, and differing non-null sandbox IDs cause an error.
Examples and API documentation README.md, examples/*, src/lib/api/resources/{CompanyInfo,EmailCampaigns,Permissions,Projects,TrackingOptOuts}.ts, src/types/api/{email-campaigns,marketing-stats}.ts
Updates examples and documentation to use sandbox and domain terminology. Adds sandbox and domains examples and removes the former testing and sending-domains examples.

Check the Mailtrap app’s equivalent projects example and update it to use
sandboxId in the MailtrapClient options and client.sandbox.projects for the
projects client, replacing any deprecated names while preserving the surrounding
example behavior.
- A null sandboxId or testInboxId now counts as not set. The fallback
already worked this way, but the conflict check and the deprecation
warning didn't.
- The sandboxes example works on the sandbox it creates instead of the
account's first one. It cleans that sandbox and resets its credentials,
so it shouldn't touch an existing one.
- The domains example still creates a domain when the account has none.
- The sandbox examples that don't send email no longer pass sandboxId,
which only applies to sending.

Check the Mailtrap in-app example corresponding to the `client.domains.get` flow
and align its client naming with the current SDK examples if it is outdated.
Preserve the example’s existing domain-fetch behavior.
Decisions:
- accountId is typed number, so passing the placeholder string made these
examples fail type-checking against the SDK; convert it with Number() as
the domains example already does
