🌱 I'm a professor at Stevens Institute of Technology. I am also the founding director of the Stevens Visualization Lab.
⭐ My research helps people make sense of complex data. I combine methods from AI, data science, and human-computer interaction to develop new interactive systems for data visualization and analysis. My work has helped people:
- have smarter, goal-informed conversations with LLMs 🤖
- leverage AI to summarize & visualize sets of documents 🕵️
- measure the trustworthiness of LLMs in education 🎓
- conduct scientific fieldwork during deep ocean expeditions 🌊
- evaluate the embedded world knowledge of LLMs 🗺️
- develop scientist-guided spacecraft autonomy 🚀
- mitigate cognitive biases during data analysis 📊
💞️ Over the years, I've deployed my tools for engineers, analysts, educators, and scientists at the NSF AI ALOE Institute, NSA, MIT Lincoln Lab, NASA JPL, Adobe Research, the NC State Laboratory for Analytic Sciences, and the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute.
