ci: group minor and patch Dependabot updates - #414
Merged
Merged
Conversation
Add a minor-and-patch group to every configured ecosystem so those bumps arrive as a single pull request per ecosystem. Major updates deliberately stay outside the group: dependabot/fetch-metadata reports the highest semver change, so they still report version-update:semver-major and the auto-merge workflow holds them back for review.

Adds a
minor-and-patchgroup to every configured ecosystem so minor and patchbumps arrive as a single pull request per ecosystem.
Major updates deliberately stay outside the group:
dependabot/fetch-metadatareports the highest semver change in a grouped PR, so a group containing a major
would report
version-update:semver-majorand the auto-merge workflow would holdthe whole group back. With majors excluded, grouped PRs report minor (or patch)
and auto-merge normally.
Security updates are not grouped (
applies-to: version-updates), so they stillarrive immediately as individual PRs.
Trade-off: one broken dependency blocks the whole group. If that becomes a
nuisance, split the group (for example by
dependency-type) or drop grouping forthat ecosystem.
