Adding or removing a code editor currently snaps the workspace into its new layout. This adds a 200ms expansion or collapse with a subtle fade, while the surrounding editors resize smoothly.
Focus moves into the new editor or a remaining editor once the transition finishes. Divider dragging and rapid actions continue to work, and the animations respect reduced-motion preferences.
Validated with 254 passing tests and browser checks for both layout directions, rapid additions/removals, divider dragging, and reduced motion.
