Why

The stories page has 15 video stories, but the landing page showed one video and mostly written quotes. Some videos (Google Drive and Loom) also had no preview image.

Changes

• Previews: Drive videos use Drive's thumbnail link; Loom thumbnails are read from Loom's oEmbed endpoint on the server and cached for a day. Checked all three Drive files and both Loom videos return an image.
• Shared loader: lib/stories.ts loads approved public stories (testimonials and impact stories) once, for the stories page and the new endpoint.
• /api/stories/videos: public list of video stories with previews, GSoC and LFX first, cached at the edge for 10 minutes.
• Landing page rail: shows those videos (the same rail is on team, fellowship and mentorship). Written quotes only appear if fewer than three videos are available. The five GSoC 2026 selectee videos in data.ts now have links, so the rail is full even before the endpoint answers.

Testing

• Locally (no database): rail shows 6 videos, all previews load, no written quotes; /api/stories/videos returns [] in under a second; /testimonials returns 200.
• Not tested against the live database; the endpoint and Loom previews will show after deploy.
• tsc and lint clean on the changed files.
