I propose an issue to defer the default canvas creation so that it's less likely for it to be created and immediately deleted.
Instead of creating a new tracking variable, I might be able to utilize the this._renderer instead.
Set aside the canvas referral proposal since it requires overhauling too much of the code (risky) and is not a common problem.
