What does this PR do?

Interrupting test run --all --wait while it reads metadata for in-flight conflict runs could exit without the newly accepted run IDs. Keep a graceful interruption scope around that stage and print the existing poll-stage partial shape: accepted runs as running, with conflicts, deferred and skipped entries retained. Text output and re-attach hints include the accepted IDs; SIGINT/SIGTERM still exit 130/143 without cancelling any run.

The metadata reads remain parallel and keep their existing budget and resume/refuse checks.

Type of change

  • Bug fix (non-breaking change that fixes an issue)

Checklist

  • PR targets the main branch.
  • Commits follow Conventional Commits.
  • npm run lint and npm run format:check pass.
  • npm run typecheck passes.
  • npm test passes and coverage stays at or above the 80% gate.
  • New behavior is covered by mock-based unit tests and local signal E2E tests.
  • No secrets, API keys, internal endpoints, or personal data are included.
  • Existing documented interruption behavior is restored; no new options or output fields.

Notes for reviewers

Two unit regressions fail before the fix; the full run unit file passes afterward (226 tests). The real-signal E2E matrix covers SIGINT/SIGTERM × JSON/text × three metadata boundaries: before response headers, during an incomplete body, and after the HTTP request has settled. All 12 signal cases fail without the fix and pass with it; an ordinary accepted-plus-adopted completion control also passes. The idle case deliberately pauses getRun after its real request and confirms there are no tracked critical operations before the parent sends the signal. This exercises the immediate-exit handler path without relying on a timing race. The signal matrix is POSIX-only; unit coverage remains platform-independent.

The standalone loopback reproducer passes all six original scenarios after the fix. An additional deferred-budget interaction preserves all partial-output buckets and makes no cancellation request. No TestSprite services or credits were used.

Validation on Node 22/Linux: lint, Prettier, types, build, full coverage suite and local E2E. Remote cross-platform CI remains to be run.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Batch test runs interrupted by SIGINT or SIGTERM now preserve details about accepted runs and conflicts, including conflicts still being checked when interruption occurs.
    • Partial results include test IDs that were filtered but not yet dispatched.
    • Interrupted runs provide clearer status and guidance for waiting on accepted runs.
    • The command avoids starting additional dispatch or wait requests after an interruption.

Walkthrough

The batch-run wait path now preserves accepted run receipts and original conflicts when interruption occurs during metadata resolution. Unit and end-to-end tests cover SIGINT and SIGTERM handling, partial output, and normal completion.

Changes

Batch-run signal handling

Layer / File(s) Summary
Preserve receipts during metadata interruption
src/commands/test.ts, src/commands/test.run.spec.ts
The wait path retains the original conflicts and arms shutdown handling during metadata resolution. On interruption, it outputs accepted runs as running, includes conflict metadata and detach guidance when applicable, then rethrows the interruption. Unit tests check receipt preservation, shutdown disarming, signal propagation, and recovery guidance.
Exercise signal handling end to end
test/e2e/batch-resume-signal.e2e.test.ts
End-to-end tests send SIGINT and SIGTERM during request, response-body, and idle stages. They check exit codes, output, preserved receipts, absence of extra wait requests, interrupted dispatch, and normal completion.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title "fix(test): retain receipts during conflict metadata interrupts" matches the main change. The PR keeps accepted run IDs and partial output when test run --all --wait is interrupted during conflict metadata reads. The changed files cover that behavior: the metadata-stage shutdown handling in src/commands/test.ts, the unit tests in src/commands/test.run.spec.ts, and the signal E2E tests. The title is specific and follows a conventional commit style. It uses the term "receipts" where the objectives say "run IDs" and "partial output", so a reader may need the description to know what receipts means here. That gap is minor.

Full details: Linked Issues check

Explanation

Issue #533 has coding requirements only. The whole-PR diff (merge base 4b5ae55 to head b209eaa) in src/commands/test.ts adds a shutdown scope around the conflict metadata stage (shutdownOf(deps).arm(), disarmed in .finally). On InterruptError, the catch block prints a partial result with accepted runs as 'running', the original conflicts (metadataConflicts), deferred, skippedFrontend, skippedIntegration, and notRunTestIds when non-empty. Text output lists accepted run IDs. When accepted runs exist, it sets runWaitContext and prints interruptDetachMessage with the accepted IDs. It then rethrows, so the existing SIGINT/SIGTERM exit codes apply. The metadata reads still run through Promise.all with the existing budget and resume/refuse checks. The E2E matrix (SIGINT/SIGTERM across JSON/text and three metadata boundaries) and unit regressions cover the new behavior, per the PR description and summary. Those test results were not re-run here. Adopted runs are not added to accepted until the metadata stage resolves. Before interruption, their IDs remain visible as currentRunId in the retained JSON conflicts. Text output for that case is not shown in the diff. The issue says adopted-run identity should be preserved 'as appropriate', so this is treated as satisfied.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The whole-PR diff changes one implementation file, src/commands/test.ts, confined to the batch run metadata-resolution stage and its partial-output path. The added partial-output fields reuse existing in-scope variables (deferred, skippedFrontend, skippedIntegration, notRunTestIds). No new CLI option or top-level output field is introduced. The text fallback to 'unverified (not attached)' applies only in the interrupted path with no accepted runs, which is part of the requested interruption receipt behavior. Test changes in src/commands/test.run.spec.ts and test/e2e/batch-resume-signal.e2e.test.ts support the same interruption behavior. No unrelated product behavior was identified.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 0.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 2 functions across 2 files. (1 skipped: 1 too large.)

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

The approved CI and Test Coverage runs have completed successfully, including Linux Node 20/22/24, Windows tests and local E2E. Security's dependency review, changed-file lint and approving-review guard also passed.

The remaining Security failure is Dependency Audit: npm audit --omit=dev --audit-level=high flags the existing undici 7.29.1 lockfile entry. This PR does not change either dependency manifest, and its lockfile is byte-identical to current main (a18d37c). The audit blocker needs a base dependency update; the receipt fix remains focused on #533.

Synced the upstream dependency update from #355 in 810a00d. Both dependency manifests now match main (5281202), including undici 7.30.1, and the focused fix/regression patch is unchanged.

Production audit reports zero vulnerabilities. Changed-line security lint and all six required local checks pass on this commit (Node 22/Linux); local E2E passed 123 cases. The first coverage run failed one existing cross-process credential assertion; its isolated four-case rerun and a complete coverage rerun passed (4,800 passed, two skipped). No test or assertion was changed, and the initial failure remains recorded. Hosted results for this new SHA still need verification.

Synced v0.16.0 (4b5ae55) in 702147f and resolved the conflict in the metadata stage. The merge keeps upstream’s no_producer / producer_in_flight filtering together with the existing interrupt-receipt scope. The three-file fix and regression patch has identical added and removed lines relative to the new base.

The 220 run-unit tests and all six required local checks pass on this commit (Node 22/Linux), including full coverage and local E2E. The real-signal regression covers pending requests, unfinished response bodies and the gap between requests, with SIGINT/SIGTERM in JSON/text, plus the normal control; all 13 cases pass. The receipt fix still does not cancel runs or alter which eligible conflict runs are resumed.

Hosted checks for this new SHA still need verification; earlier-head workflow results do not certify it.

Addressed both metadata-interruption findings in b209eaa (unsent IDs, text conflict IDs).

The partial JSON now includes notRunTestIds when nonempty, matching the completed wait result. When no runs were newly accepted, text output lists the candidate conflict run IDs as unverified (not attached). The existing accepted-run output, resume/refuse checks, metadata concurrency, signal exit codes and cancellation behavior are preserved.

Four added unit cases fail before the change. The new real-signal CLI cases also reproduce both omissions before the fix, with JSON-only conflict controls passing. Afterward, all 224 run-unit cases and all 19 signal-suite cases pass, including the normal completion control. The added scenarios cover SIGINT/SIGTERM with no newly accepted run, and a later dispatch failure followed by metadata interruption; they assert no cancellation or polling after interruption.

All six required local checks pass on this commit with Node 22/Linux: lint, formatting, types, build, full coverage and local E2E. Hosted results for this new SHA and human review remain pending.
