A community-driven, open-source custom ROM for smartwatches.
Is a community-driven project focused on researching, reverse-engineering, and building an open-source custom ROM for Wear OS smartwatches.
Our goal is to give users more control over their devices by understanding how Wear OS works and creating an open, customizable alternative.
- Reverse Engineering: Research firmware, OTA payloads, partition layouts, bootloaders, AVB, and vendor interfaces.
- Custom ROM: Build an AOSP-derived, customizable, and de-Googled Wear OS system.
- Community: Share research, tools, documentation, and development openly.
Everyone is welcome to contribute! Whether you're a developer, researcher, designer, or smartwatch enthusiast, there's a place for you.
- Research and reverse-engineer devices.
- Test hardware and report issues.
- Develop tools and system components.
- Improve documentation.
- Contribute ideas and designs.
OpenWearOS is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or supported by Google or any smartwatch manufacturer.
Flashing custom firmware can brick your device and may void your warranty. Proceed at your own risk.
Built in the open, one partition at a time.
