Problem

In the badge scans CSV export (GET /api/v1/summits/{id}/badge-scans/csv), sponsor/ticket extra question columns are keyed by their lowercased label and merged with the fixed scan columns via array_merge. An extra question labeled like a fixed column (e.g. "Notes") produced the key notes, overwriting the scan's own Notes column. As a result only the question answer was exported and the scan notes were lost.

Reported for OCP Global 2026 (Murata): scans with both Notes and a text extra question named "Notes" only showed the question answer.

Fix

SponsorBadgeScanCSVSerializer now resolves a unique column key for each extra question:

  • No collision: the label is kept as is (existing exports are unchanged).
  • Collision: the column becomes <label> (<question name>).
  • Still colliding (same label and same name): <label> (<question name>-<id>).

Applied to both sponsor and ticket extra questions.

Tests

  • Added tests/SponsorBadgeScanCSVSerializerTest.php covering no collision, collision with a fixed column, and collision with the same label and name.
  • CSVExporterTest still passes.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Sponsor badge scan CSV exports now use distinct column headers when questions share the same label, making the exported data easier to distinguish.

…e badge scans CSV export

An extra question labeled like a fixed column (e.g. "Notes") overwrote that
column in the export. Colliding question columns are now suffixed with the
question name (and the id as last resort).

Walkthrough

The serializer now avoids duplicate sponsor and attendee question column keys in badge scan CSV output. It tries the question label, then a key using the question name, and finally a key including the question ID. Tests cover these key-selection cases.

A helper selects an unused label or adds the CSV-formatted question name, then the question ID. Sponsor and attendee questions check existing serialized values and accumulated question values before selecting a key. Attendee questions are type-checked before their labels are read. Tests cover unused labels and name and ID fallbacks.

A narrowly shaped question-label collision can omit an answer from the CSV. Check the final key and protect the Notes export behavior with a test; otherwise the change is mergeable with this bounded risk understood.

Add an integration assertion for the exported Notes column.

The new tests invoke only getUniqueColumnKey() through reflection. They do not serialize a badge scan or assert CSV output. A regression that restores raw label assignment in serialize() would therefore pass these tests while replacing the scan's fixed Notes value.

Add a serializer or endpoint test with a scan note and an extra question labeled Notes, then assert that the scan note remains under Notes and the question uses its disambiguated column.

Minor · Data Integrity & Integration · Quick win

Check the ID-based key before returning it.

The final key can also be taken. For example, if the taken keys include notes, notes (notes_q), and notes (notes_q-11), a question labeled notes with name notes_q and ID 11 returns the third key. The caller then overwrites the earlier question’s answer. Continue adding a suffix until the key is unused, and add a test for that case. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Keep appending a counter when the label, label (name) and label (name-id)
keys are all already taken, so no extra question answer is overwritten.
