Closes #39.

The fork Construct-Linux/gnome-shell-extension-clipboard-indicator merges upstream master at 60368b1 into gnome-51 (a5e6b40). The recipe moves to v72, which fork:pin takes from upstream's tag.

From upstream

  • v72, which declares GNOME 51.
  • Fixes for a corrupt or oversize cache: a non-list cache is rejected, and favourites are written back when the cache is too big.
  • registry.txt is replaced atomically.
  • Clearing and trimming the history each run in a single pass.
  • Move-to-top waits until the menu has closed.
  • The edit dialog uses the theme's text colour.
  • New translations: eu, ja and zh_CN.

Kept from the fork

  • History is written once, when the extension is idle, instead of once per change. Upstream's atomic replace is folded into that write.
  • Clear-on-boot runs once per boot (it keys on the kernel's boot id), not at every unlock. Upstream's version also wipes the pinned entries.
  • Paste pastes the new clipboard (upstream #443).
  • metadata.json declares shell-version: ["51"] alone, and url now points at the fork.
  • Files the fork deleted stay deleted: the release Makefile targets, compiled .mo files and gschemas.compiled, and upstream's new agent harness (AGENTS.md, agents/).

Left out

Upstream's history import and export is reverted on the fork's branch (2eaeafc), for three reasons:

  • It refuses the fork's SHA-256-named images.
  • It rewrites registry.txt from the prefs process, so a pending write from the shell can overwrite the import.
  • It signals the shell through two dconf keys, and it needs tar.

Checked

  • task fork:check passes (39 files) and every .js file parses.
  • task build, task lock (the lock moves only this package, 71-r6 to 72-r0), task check, task disk -- -test and go run ./cmd/image check all pass.
  • task test: 534/534 passed, 2 skipped, 0 journal errors.
  • Boot and shell-startup times were slower than the previous run, because another VM was running on the same host. They are not a regression signal.

To try by hand

Turn on move-to-top together with paste-on-select in a live session. Upstream's deferred move is wired into the fork's #updateClipboard path, and the harness does not exercise it.

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

Upstream's master moved 30 commits past the fork's base (#39): v72,
which takes GNOME 51, and its own fixes for a corrupt or oversize
cache, atomic registry writes, move-to-top after the menu closes, the
edit dialog in the theme's text color and new eu, ja and zh_CN
translations. The fork keeps its idle-coalesced history writes,
clearing on boot once per boot rather than at every unlock, and Paste
pasting the new clipboard. Upstream's history import and export is
reverted on the fork's branch: it refuses the fork's SHA-256-named
images, can lose an import to a pending write, and signals the shell
through dconf.
